Congratulations and welcome to the 2030 roster representing Team Smithtown for the 2019/2020 season! Each of you have demonstrated a commitment to invest in the development of your son’s skillsets in this great game of lacrosse, and I am confident each of you will be pleased that you did.
I wanted to take this time, not only to congratulate you, but also to introduce myself for those with whom I may not have met in person. My name is David Morosky, and I have volunteered to serve as the Head Coach of this year’s 2030 team.
While this is my third-year (second as a coach with our Team Smithtown 2nd Grade), it is not where my love for the game of lacrosse began. I recall a time in the past (some 30+ years ago), being of the same age and beginning my first practice on a 2nd Grade team on the fields of Caledonia Park with Huntington PAL. I remember it being one of my more nerve-wrecking experiences, and I’m certain there was plenty of nervous energy with our young players as they attended the “try-outs” for this team. This great game has taken me through high school and college, and has afforded me the ability to enrich many personal and professional relationships!
Congratulations on making the team!
Please familiarize yourselves with the “Sports SignUp Play”. We will need to be as transparent as possible with our boys’ attendance for practices, games, and the Spring/Summer tournaments. A small few who are not able to attend will undoubtedly impact our team’s ability to hold productive practices and games.
Finally, there are only three expectations that we have of our young players:
1) SHOW RESPECT to oneself and one another;
2) GIVE EFFORT each time on a lacrosse field for practice and competiton;
and most importantly,
3) HAVE FUN!
Embrace this opportunity and give it your best every time you walk onto the field!
Will be in touch very soon. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
